What is the CoBlocks Backpack?
It is a shared shelf of block stacks for this project. Your collaborators can reuse the scripts you put there. It is separate from Scratch’s personal backpack.
Share and reuse blocks
- Open CoBlocks Backpack at the bottom of the editor.
- Drag a block stack into it to share the script.
- Select a destination sprite, then use Add to sprite, double-click an item, or drag it into the code area.
- Use Refresh if the list is stale. The owner or script’s creator can remove an item.
More detail & reference
Insert a shared script
The script is copied into the target. A backpack script is not a linked component that automatically updates previous insertions when another copy changes. Costumes and sounds are not bundled as a general asset transfer by this feature.
- Select the sprite or stage that should receive the blocks.
- Choose Add to sprite on the backpack item, double-click the item, or drag it into the code area.
- Check the inserted blocks in the current target.
Refresh and remove items
Use Refresh in the backpack header if the list looks stale. The item count reflects stored scripts. A Remove control is available to the project owner and to the person who shared that script; removal asks for confirmation.
Current backend limits
If a script is rejected, try a smaller stack or remove old items you manage. A large project does not imply the backpack can hold it as a single script.
| Limit | Behavior |
|---|---|
| 50 scripts | Maximum number of shared backpack items per project. |
| 5,000 blocks | Maximum blocks in one script item. |
| 1,000,000 characters | Maximum serialized block-data length for an item. |
| 150,000 characters | Maximum supported thumbnail string length; thumbnail data is validated separately. |
