What is an invite link?
It lets someone join your CoBlocks project without adding them by username. It also works for unshared Scratch projects. Keep the link private: anyone with it can join while it is valid.
How to send or accept one
- The owner opens CoBlocks → Collaboration → Copy invite link and sends the whole URL.
- The other person installs CoBlocks and signs in to Scratch and Scratch Auth using the same account.
- They open the full link in that browser and wait for the project to load.
More detail & reference
Create and copy a link
- As project owner, open the Scratch editor and enable CoBlocks if needed.
- Open CoBlocks → Collaboration and choose Copy invite link.
- Wait for the confirmation that a new invite was copied.
- Send the entire copied URL privately to your intended collaborators.
Accept an invitation
Invites work for unshared projects. A recipient does not need to add the owner to the friends list for invite-based projects to appear in their workspace. If a login interrupts joining, finish login and reopen the original full invite URL.
- Install a compatible CoBlocks build and sign in to Scratch.
- Finish Scratch Auth with that same account on the owner’s server.
- Open the complete invite URL in that browser profile. The URL starts at Scratch’s create page and includes CoBlocks project and invite parameters.
- Allow Scratch’s project-creation redirects to finish. CoBlocks accepts the link and opens an existing linked copy or creates a new one.
- Confirm the owner and other collaborators appear online before editing.
Replace or revoke an invitation
- Choose Copy invite link again to issue a replacement and invalidate the old link.
- Choose Revoke invite and confirm to disable the current link without creating a replacement.
Keep invitations private
An invite token authorizes an authenticated account to join while the link is valid. Anyone you give the link to may use it; treat it as a temporary access credential. Do not publish it in screenshots or public issue reports.
Invite URLs do not contain a custom-server address. If self-hosting, tell recipients to configure and sign in to the same server before opening the link.
If an invitation fails
- Invalid or expired: ask the owner for a fresh link; a later copy or explicit revocation may have invalidated yours.
- Not authenticated: finish Scratch Auth, then reopen the original invite.
- Project not found: confirm both people use the same backend and that the collaboration still exists.
- No CoBlocks action after opening: verify installation and Scratch site access, reload Scratch, then reopen the full URL including its query parameters.
