What are notifications?
The editor’s notification center shows activity such as people joining, leaving, and sending messages. Click a message notification to open chat. Opening chat clears its unread messages.
Turn on alerts or sounds
- Open the extension popup → Settings → Project Chats.
- Enable Notifications and allow the browser’s permission prompt for chat alerts.
- Enable Ping Sounds separately if you want audio.
More detail & reference
The editor notification center
The notification control beside CoBlocks opens the in-page activity list. It includes collaboration events such as joins and leaves, chat messages, and relevant status/error messages. Its badge reflects unread activity.
Message entries can open chat. Brief toasts show previews; in the current release they dismiss automatically after about 1.6 seconds and support swipe-right dismissal. The center is an editor-session activity surface, not an account-wide permanent audit log.
Enable browser chat notifications
Browser notifications are for incoming project chat. They can be requested when chat is closed or the Scratch page is not focused; operating-system rules may still suppress them. The popup checkbox is switched off if permission is denied.
- Open the extension popup → Settings → Project Chats.
- Enable Notifications.
- Approve the optional browser notification permission when prompted.
- Check browser/OS notification settings and Focus / Do Not Disturb if alerts still do not appear.
Enable ping sounds
Audio playback is subject to browser autoplay restrictions. Notification permission, in-page toasts, and the Ping Sounds setting are independent controls.
- Open Settings → Project Chats.
- Enable Ping Sounds.
- Interact with the Scratch page so the browser can allow audio playback.
